To overcome the distribution problems for children movies, Children Film Society India will market
all the films screened at the 18th International Children’s Film Festival.
Speaking at the ’Open Forum’ on ‘Role of State: Arab, Asian Children’s films’ conducted in connection with the ICFFI, Dr. Shravan Kumar, Chief Executive Officer informed that strategies will be made to make movie making commercially viable.
Participating at the forum, Sannette Naeya, Director of Syndicate Foundation of Netherland said that children are spending more time with media than the school time. In the fast changing world, government can’t handle the cultural things on its own, it should support only the institutions in this case they are producers of children’s movies, she said.
Dr.Hou keming, film maker from China, said after the economic reforms, many private firms had entered into film making, especially of the children’s. He also informed that there are nearly 50-children specific channels in China.
Expressing his unhappiness over the recent happenings in Egypt, writer Layali Badr said that after the Arab Spring, state media stopped the broadcast of children content. She stressed that television and cinema media should not be treated only as entertainment things, then only they can impact the children in a big way, she added.
