Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore met Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Sh. Nitin Gadkari here today in connection with early completion of six-laning of Gurgaon-Kotputli-Jaipur section of National Highway-8. The two leaders reviewed the progress of the work and the hindrances leading to delay in its completion.
Senior officers of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) who were present in the meeting briefed the Ministers about current status of the project and informed that out of 57 structures to be completed which include flyovers, vehicle underpasses (VUP) and pedestrian underpasses (PUP), 46 have already been completed while 7 more will be completed by the end of June this year. The work for remaining 4 structures is also under progress and will be completed soon.
Col. Rathore said that the people living in villages and towns along NH-8 have severe problem in going across the road and therefore underpasses need to be constructed at different points to facilitate their movement across the road. He also suggested that bye-passes should be constructed at Behror, Kotputli, Paota and Shahpura as a long term solution and Rajasthan Government may be approached for making land available for the purpose. Sh. Gadkari assured that the work on NH-8 will be completed on high priority and directed the officials accordingly.
