Proposals for changing the names of Hazaribagh Road Railway Station as Saria, Mumbai Central Railway Station as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Grand Trunk Railway Station as Nanashankar Sheth have not been received from the respective State Governments by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
However, the proposal of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh for changing the name of Mughalsarai Railway Station as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Nagar has been received and approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
All the proposals received through the respective State Governments for changing the name of villages, towns and railway stations are considered in consultation with the agencies concerned after receiving the comments from them.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir in a written reply to question by Dr. Ravindra Kumar Ray, Dr. C. Gopalakrishnan and Adv. Chintaman Navasha Wanaga in the Lok Sabha today.
