Driving-Cum-Fitness Training Centres

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has a scheme for setting up of Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR). During the 10^th Five Year Plan and 11^th Plan, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways sanctioned 13 and 8 IDTR respectively out of which 16 are functional. The details are  as follows.

Till date, as per available information, around 3,00,000 HMV drivers have been imparted refresher training to inculcate road safety.

During 12^th Plan, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has set a target to set up 10  IDTRs and 25 Regional Driving Training Centres (RDTC) . Priority will be given to those states where no IDTR has been sanctioned during 10th and 11^th Plan. Till date, Ministry has already sanctioned 4 IDTR to be set up, one each in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Telangana and Maharashtra.
