The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is implementing a gender-specific scheme exclusively for ST girls viz., “Strengthening Education among ST Girls in Low Literacy Districts” in the country.
During the last financial year 2014-15, twenty nine (29) grantee organizations have been funded for running and maintenance of 112 Educational Complexes for ST girls under the Scheme. The Scheme is being implemented in 54 identified districts in the country, where the ST population is 25% or more, and ST female literacy rate below 35%, or its fractions, as per 2001 census.
This information was given by Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
