Advance of southwest monsoon into south Andaman Sea (1300 Hrs IST)

According to the latest release (at 1300 Hrs. IST)by the National Weather Forecasting Centre/Cyclone Warning Division of the India Meteorological Department:

The Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some parts of south Bay of Bengal, Nicobar Islands & Andaman Sea.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Lat.5°N/Long.85°E,Lat.8°N/Long.90°E, Car Nicobar, Lat.11°N/Long.95°E (Fig.1). Further advance during next 3-4 days

Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman Sea & Andaman Islands and some parts of east central Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.

Major features associated with advance of southwest monsoon>
Rainfall occurred at most places over Nicobar Islands during last 24 hours.
Southwesterly wind has strengthened in the lower levels (upto 25 knots) and deepened(upto 6 km) over the southern Latitudes covering south Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islandsand southern parts of south Bay of Bengal.
There is persistent cloudiness from 15th May onwards over south Andaman Sea,

adjoining south Bay of Bengal and Nicobar Islands. The Satellite (INSAT-3D) derived Outgoing Long wave Radiation over the region is less than 200 W/m2 .

Forecast & warnings for Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next 5 days
Light to moderate rainfall at most places very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next 4-5 days. Heavy rainfall at isolated.
