A Brief Introduction of the Book – The Republican Ethic, Volume- 2

A compilation of the selected speeches of Hon’ble President of India during his second year in office

Since assumption of the office more than two years back, Hon’ble President Shri Ram Nath Kovind has continued to touch a chord with all sections and regions of this vast nation. This compilation of 95 speeches delivered during his second year in office ( July 2018 to July 2019) is a reflection of the wisdom and spirit of India, its diversity and aspirations of its people, finding expression in the visionary, compassionate and visionary words of Hon’ble President.

In view of the vast diversity of topic covered by Shri Ram Nath Kovind, these speeches have been divided in 8 categories, namely: ‘Addressing the Nation’, ‘Windows to the World’, ‘Educating India: Equipping India’, ‘Dharma of Public Service’, ‘Honouring our Sentinels’, ‘spirit of the Constitution and law’, ‘Acknowledging Excellence’ and ‘Mahatma Gandhi: Moral Exemplar, Guiding Light.’

As evident from the titles of the categories, these speeches cover a wide panorama of our national life, giving a glimpse of the vision of the President – overarching from diplomatic focus to good governance, from quality education to the pursuit of excellence and from welfare of our brave armed forces to the overriding spirit of Constitution. As the Hon’ble President in the Chairperson of the National Committee for Commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a separate section on Shri Kovind’s illuminating addresses related to Gandhian world-view has been included.

Last year also, Publications Division had published selected speeches of Hon’ble president, in English and Hindi, covering his first year in office. Volumes published this year, Continue this noble tradition. The erudite and noble words of our President reflect the hopes and aspirations of emerging India; and these books embody the same spirit.
