11.24 % increase in Budget allocation for MHA over allocation of last year
The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated the Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley for transformative provisions in the Union Budget 2017-18 presented in the Lok Sabha here today. He said that the Budget provides for systemic and political reforms and a transformative shift to our economy. The Union Budget provisions honour the honest tax payer, curb the flow of black money and provide relief to the middle class, he said.
The Home Minister said that in spite of global uncertainties India is seen as a bright spot of growth and the Budget further consolidates the existing growth momentum. The Budget will give impetus to growth, people welfare and help all sections of the society in unleashing their true potential. He said that the resilience of Indian farmers is indicative in higher estimated growth in Agriculture. The Budget provisions will make them more resilient. Integration of farmers with Agri Processing units will boost farmers' income & allocation of Rs 10 lakh cr for agri-credit is a big positive step, Shri Rajnath Singh said.
Shri Singh said that by giving affordable housing the infra status, the Budget has taken a big step towards realising the dream of Housing for All by 2022. He said that higher Budgetary allocation to strengthen rural economy, healthcare, Railways & infrastructure will have a multiplier effect on our economy.
The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh thanked the Finance Minister for various provisions for Ministry of Home Affairs in the Union Budget 2017-18. Following are the highlights of allocation for MHA in the budget:
· Allocation for MHA is Rs. 83823.30 Crore which is 11.24 % increase over allocation of last year (Rs. 75355.48 Crore).
· Allocation for Capital Section is Rs. 11501.33 Crore which amounts to 23.10% over and above the last year allocation (Rs. 9342.53 Crore).
· Allocation for Revenue Section Rs. 72321.97 Crore which amounts to 9.55% over and above the last year allocation (Rs. 66012.95 Crore).
Significant increase in budget allocation under various heads under MHA is as follows:
· Under Police Infrastructure- Building Projects of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organisations(CPOs) , the increase is 33% (from Rs. 3012.98 crore to Rs. 4008.06 crore).
· Under Police Infrastructure - Delhi Police, the increase is 74% (from Rs. 252.50 crore to Rs. 439.00 crore).
· Under Security Related Expenditure (SRE) Schemes for J&K, NE and LWE States, the increase is 45% (from Rs. 840.00 crore to Rs. 1222.00 crore).
· Under Border Area Development Programme (BADP), the increase is 11% (from Rs. 990.00 crore to Rs. 1100.00 crore).
· Under Land Port Authority of India, the increase is 241% (from Rs. 88.00 crore to Rs. 300.00 crore).
· Under Relief and Rehabilitation of Migrants and Repatriates , the increase is 32% (from Rs. 910.28 crore to Rs. 1205.90 crore).
· Under Disaster Management Schemes, the increase is 7.30% (from Rs. 941.93 crore to Rs. 1009.29 crore).
· Under India Reserve Battalions and Re-imbursement to States for Deployment of Bns, the increase is 40% (from Rs. 73.90 crore to Rs. 103.52 crore).
· Under National Emergency Response System (NERS) the increase is 109% (from Rs. 150.00 crore to Rs. 313.00 crore).
· Under Border Outposts, there is an increase of 17% (from Rs. 209.78 Crore to 244.32 Crore).
