For the integrated development of theme based tourist circuits in the country, the Ministry of Tourism has launched the ‘Swadesh Darshan Scheme’ in the year 2014-15. The Himalayan circuit has been identified as one of the thematic circuits for development under the scheme.
The Himalayan Circuit covers States of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the North-East region.
This information was given by Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. Mahesh Sharma in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
