Setting up of Helipad at AIIMS

The All India Institute Medical Science has applied for permission for construction of elevated heliport for private use category in day VFR operations on the roof top of Trauma Centre. 

A site inspection was carried out on 13.10.2015. The site has been found appropriate for construction of the elevated helipad. AIIMS has to now prepare Detailed Project Report and start the construction. AIIMS has contracted HSCC(I), a Govt. of India enterprise, for construction of building and the helipad, and they will obtain environmental / regulatory clearances from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, local bodies etc. for the approval of the operation of AIIMS Helipad. AAI shall simultaneously develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for such Helicopter operations, to be finalized by 31st January, 2016 

This information was given by Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Dr Mahesh Sharma in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today (10 December, 2015).
