Delegation of Indian Chamber of Commerce calls on Dr. Jitendra Singh

A delegation of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) led by its President, Shri Shiv Siddhant Kaul called on the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, here today and proposed several initiatives and plans of investment that the Chamber envisages for the North Eastern Region. 

Dr. Jitendra Singh congratulated Shri Kaul for having taken over as President of ICC for the year 2015-16 and hoped that during his tenure, the ICC would be able to finalize futuristic initiatives in addition to carrying forward some of the earlier initiatives started during the tenure of immediate past President, Shri Roopen Roy. 

Under the leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, last 15 months have been a period of visionary reforms aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship, particularly in those parts of the country where it has relatively lagged behind. In this regard, he said, Northeast offers tremendous opportunities for investment, generating job employability and above all, becoming a part of the present Government’s “Make in Northeast - Make in India” and “Start-up India” missions. 

Shri Shiv Siddhant Kaul requested Dr. Jitendra Singh to chair the 9th Northeast Business Summit scheduled to be held at Guwahati early February next year. He also sought the Minister’s support in organizing a car rally from Manipur to Thailand via Lao Pedia and Myanmar. 

The members of the ICC delegation appreciated the fast track progress made by DoNER Ministry under Dr. Jitendra Singh for improving connectivity and linkages not only within Northeast but also with the immediate neighbouring countries and said, this will go a long way in attracting investors to the region.
