The Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge), Dr. Mahesh Sharma held a high level review meeting about tourist facilities today at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata. The Airport Director, Shri A.K.Sharma informed the Minister that Kolkata Airport is handling 120 flights to different directions both in India and abroad every day. The Airport, in spite of all odds, is generating surplus for the last five years. The amount of surplus generated last year was to the tune of Rs. 326 crores, he added. The Minister asked the authorities to ensure basic facilities for tourists at the Airport.
Later, the Minister took a round of the airport to take stock of the passenger amenities. He interacted with a section of the employees, staff of the private airlines and stalls to know about the details of facilities available for the tourists. He appreciated the quality of maintenance of Kolkata Airport and encouraged all to keep it up for the tourists.
