President of India’s message on the eve of Independence Day of Djibouti

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Djibouti on the eve of their Independence Day (June 27, 2015).

In his message to His Excellency Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, the President of the Republic of Djibouti, the President has said, “On behalf of the Government, people of India and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to convey to you and to the people of Djibouti warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of your Independence Day.

India and Djibouti have traditionally enjoyed friendly and cordial relations. The recent gesture of the Government of Djibouti in extending its whole hearted cooperation during my Government’s efforts to evacuate a large number of Indian nationals as well as nationals of other countries from strife – torn Yemen has, indeed, taken this relationship to a new level. I am confident that the friendly ties existing between our two countries will be further strengthened in the years to come.

I avail of this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency, my good wishes for your personal well-being and happiness, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Djibouti”
