Message from Director General, All India Radio on World Radio Day

On the occasion of the World Radio Day, observed on 13th February every year to recognize and recall the contribution of radio to society at large, I extend my heartfelt greetings to listeners as well as employees of All India Radio.

India is a classic case in heterogeneity in terms of ethno-linguistic characteristics and economic disparities of its people. In such a society, AIR wedded to public service broadcasting, has been serving as a potent instrument to enlighten and empower people across the different segments of the society.

In a pluralistic society like ours, AIR also provides a platform to disparate communities for sharing their ideas and thus promoting harmony and cohesion. AIR’s role, as a catalyst in bringing about rapid socio-economic transformation is too well-known to recount. But then let us not rest on our laurels. I call upon all my colleagues at various locations of the country to re-dedicate themselves to the noble cause of taking the organization to majestic heights. We are inheritors of a great legacy and we are proud of it. Let us keep working as a well-knit team and give our best to the nation and society through radio.

F.Sheheryar
