An Exhibition, organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development An Exhibition, organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development ‘Women of India- 2014’ began in Dilli Haat began in Dilli Haat, INA in New Delhi today (13.11.2014). The Exhibition, exhibiting the products and handicrafts by women from all over India,was inaugurated by the Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Shri Vinay Sheel Oberoi. The Exhibition is being held from 13th to 19th November, 2014. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary said that the exhibition is being held for the first time to celebrate the efforts and initiatives of women of India. He said that it has been dedicated to Women of India so that the women entrepreneurs and artisans especially from rural India, get an opportunity to exhibit and sell their products.Such an exhibition would give much needed window to all such women who are working incognito in the vast width and breadth of our country, he added. The Secretary said that the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi is the force behind the novel idea of holding such an exhibition.
This year, the Exhibition will not only empower the women but also serve as platform to educate the people about the programmes, schemes and Acts of the Ministry relating to women and children. The projects, polices and new initiatives of the Ministry have been displayed at a separate exhibition at the venue. The latest scheme of the Ministry, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao has been highlighted in this exhibition.
Earlier, welcoming the guests and participants, the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Sh I. S Chahal said that the exhibition has got an overwhelming response and more than 180 stalls have been set up at the Exhibition.
During the period of Exhibition, entry for visitors into Dilli Haat, INA will be free of cost.
