The Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India in collaboration with the United Nation’s Population Fund (UNFPA) is commemorating ‘World Population Day’ tomorrow(17th July,2014) at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The theme of event is ‘Investing in Young People in India.’Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister will be the Chief Guest and Shri Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home, the guest of honour.On this occasion, the Home Minister will release a publication entitled ‘A Profile of Adolescent and Youth in India’ jointly brought out by Office of the Registrar General, India and UNFPA. The occasion will also be used to launch ‘YouthInfo Portal’.
Panel discussions on the topics of ‘Size growth and composition of adolescent and youth population’ under the chairmanship of Shri Rajeev Gupta, Secretary (Youth Affairs), ‘Trends in literacy among adolescents and youth’ under the chairmanship of Mr. Rabbi Royan, International Specialist on UNFPPA and ‘Work participation among adolescents and youth’ under the chairmanship of Dr. C. Chandramouli, RGI have also been organized.
