“Sampark, Samanvay Evam Samvad”: Conclave of the Officers of Ministries of Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy

An Initiative to Bring about Better Coordination among Ministries

A Conclave titled “Sampark, Samanvay Evam Samvad” of the officers of Ministries of Power, Coal, and New & Renewable Energy was organized today in the Convention Hall of NDMC at New Delhi. The event was organized with the view to develop better synergy between all the three energy sectors and thus create harmony in the working of the Ministries to reach the National goal of Energy Security. About 350 officials from the three Ministries, from the level ofSectionOfficertill Secretary, participated in the conclave.
The idea of organizing such a conclave came as an initiative of Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy. He strongly felt that there is need to bring officers closer so that they can enter in to regular dialogue, understand each other, and bring better congruence in working. This would help in exchange of innovative ideas and open a channel of communication and information flow between the three Ministries.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Piyush Goyal stated that it is time to move beyond politics to performance, and that it is necessary to break barriers within the system. He emphasized that the Ministries should send across a message of clarity, transparency and togetherness to the public. Three Ministries together can add 1.5% - 2.0% to the GDP growth rate.
Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change was chief guest at the function. Shri Javadekar asked the officers to come out of officialdom and work as part of a movement for nation-building. The Minister stated that complete trust, freedom to act, clear mandate, time-bound results and real time crosscheck are essential for effective governance. The Minister also asked the officers to work with a vision, in a mission mode and to follow the Seven Cs of Commitment, Compassion, Confidence, Communication, Competence, Consistency, and Creativity. He added that the real key to prosperity is innovation.
The Ministers’ speech was followed by a motivational session by popular author, Shri Chetan Bhagat, on game-changing ideas. Shri Piyush Goyal later led an interactive session with the officers inviting suggestions and ideas to improve the system.
