The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has greeted fellow-citizens on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. In a Message, the President has said,
“On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidasji, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all my people.
The life and work of Guru Ravidasji are of direct relevance to our aspirations to build a more just and egalitarian society. The Guru showed people how to cast away parochialism and prejudice. He taught that one is distinguished not by one`s caste but by one`s actions. His noble message of love, truth and religious harmony is relevant for all times to come.
Let us derive inspiration from his teachings and re-dedicate ourselves to India’s glorious tradition of peace, brotherhood and compassion.”
