Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in January, 2014 was 7.20 lakh which was 6.99 lakh in January, 2013 with a growth of 3.0%. Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism in Rupees terms in January, 2014 were Rs.11,197 crore in comparison to Rs.10,465 crore in January, 2013.
The following are some important highlights regarding FTAs and FEEs from tourism during the month of January, 2014:
Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs):
·FTAs during the Month of January, 2014 were 7.20 lakh as compared to FTAs of 6.99 lakh during the month of January, 2013 and 6.81 lakh in January, 2012.
There has been a growth of 3.0% in January, 2014 over January 2013 as compared to a growth of 2.6% registered in January, 2013 over January, 2012.
Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from Tourism in rupee terms and US$ terms
· FEEs during the month of January 2014 were Rs.11,197crore as compared to Rs.10,465 crore in January, 2013 and Rs.8,623 crore in January, 2012.
· The growth rate in FEEs in rupee terms in January 2014 over January 2013 was 7.0% as compared to 21.4% in January 2013 over January 2012.
· FEEs in US$ terms during the month of January 2014 were US$1.805 billion as compared to FEEs of US$1.925 billion during the month of January 2013 and US$ 1.681 billion in January 2012.
· The growth rate in FEEs in US$ terms in January 2014 over January 2013 was negative growth of 6.2% as compared to the growth of 14.5% in January 2013 over January, 2012.
Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) on the basis of the FTAs data at major ports and Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism on the basis of data available from Reserve Bank of India.
