AE and media campaigns has been taken up as well as Indian Missions in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are also being involved for creating awareness on the scheme of Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana (MGPSY). Answering to a question in Rajaya Sabha today, the Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Sh. Vayalar Ravi said, government has prepared information, education and communication (IEC) material in six languages Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Tamil, Punjabi and Telugu, commonly spoken by emigrant Indian workers, to create awareness on MGPSY. He said , IEC material has been made available to Service Providers, Protector of Emigrants and Indian missions in UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
MGPSY being a voluntary scheme, 90 persons have subscribed for MGPSY from April 2012 till 28th January, 2014, the Minister added.
