Conference on “Strengthening Road Safety Legislation : Saving Lives” Held in Delhi

Shri Oscar Fernandes, the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways has said that the government is committed to create safer road conditions through legislation, infrastructure, education, enforcement, prompt response and medical care. He was addressing a high level conference on “Strengthening road safety Legislation : Saving Lives” here today (14.12.2013). The Minister said that visible political will mobilize the resources for the cause. 

Speaking on the occasion Justice J R Midha of Delhi High Court enlightened on various legal intricacies and ironies related to sufferings of road accident victims. Earlier welcoming the participants Shri Sanjay Bandhopadhyay presented Indian perspective and status on the subject. 

The conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and World Health Organisation. Representatives of Central Government Ministries, State Governments, NGOs and other stake holders participated in the event.
