The Prime Minister had expressed his deep anguish over the loss of lives in the stampede on 13-10-2013 at Ratangarh Mata Temple in Datia District, Madhya Pradesh. The Prime Minister has since, after clearance from the Election Commission of India, sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000/- each to the seriously injured persons from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
