24TH NATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST & EXHIBITION ORGANIZED BY PHOTO DIVISION THEME OF THE CONTEST “SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FOR ALL”

The Photo Division, a Media Unit of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting organized the 24th  National Photo Contest on the theme “SUSTAINABL ENERGY FOR ALL”. The Prize distribution ceremony was held today with Joint Secretary, Shri Anurag Srivastava giving away the prizes to the winners in the various categories and also inaugurating a photo exhibition.  The exhibition has been organized at the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society complex.

Shri Chinmoy Bhattacharjee of Kolkata, Shri Santosh Kumar Jana of Midnapur (E) and Shri Rishabh Mittal of Indore bagged first, second and third prizes respectively in colour section. S/Shri Seshadri Moitra, Udaipur ; Cretan Soni, Dhar ; Shib Narayan Acharya, Jammu ; Piyush Rangnekar, Indore ; Banwari R. Rajput, Ahmedabad ; Prachi Tiwari, Indore ; Somnath Mukhopadhyay, Birbhum ; Devendra Sharma, Puranjit Gangopadhyay, Kolkata ; Prasanta Biswas, Kolkata got the commendation awards in colour section. 

A total number of 439 photographs were received from 105 entrants from 13 States and UT’s. The Jury comprising of S/Shri Bhupesh C. Little, EFIAP from Lucknow, Hemendra A. Shah, an eminent photographer from Ahmedabad, Sunil Malhotra, an eminent news photo journalist from New Delhi, Govind Bhattacharjee, Director General, CAG & a noted photographer and Debatosh Sengupta, Director, Photo Division met on 1st & 2nd June, 2013 to screen all the entries and selected three prize winning entries and ten for commendation prizes in colour section as well as two commendation prizes in Black & White section. In addition to this, the jury also considered 77 photographs (7 Black & White and 70 colour) for exhibition keeping in view the theme of the contest “SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FOR ALL”.


The first prize carries cash of Rs. 25,000/-, second prize Rs.20,000/- and third prize Rs. 15,000/- and commendation award Rs. 5,000/- along with a plaque and citation.
