Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium town (UIDSSMT) a sub-component of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) is being implemented in 28 States and 5 UTs. All towns, except cities covered under Urban Infrastructure Governance (UIG) Sub-Mission of JNNURM, are covered under the Scheme.
807 projects at a project cost of Rs. 14020.96 crore involving Additional Central Assistance (ACA) of Rs.11240.02 crore have been sanctioned. A sum of Rs. 9494.83 Crore has been released to the States so far.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Urban Development Smt. Deepa Dasmunshi in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on February 27, 2013.

This Project should focus on adopting certain towns and develop them until all the basic amenties are build for the people residing there
