Improvement of 44 Economic Corridors under Bharatmala

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has done comprehensive and scientific study of traffic flow across the country and identified 44 Economic Corridors of aggregate length of 26,200 for development or improvement under Bharatmala Pariyojana. These corridors carry high volume of traffic. Under the Phase–I of Bharatmala Pariyojana, it is proposed to develop 9,000 km of Economic Corridors. NHAI has awarded or is in the process of awarding thirty consultancy packages for preparation of DPR of about 9,300 km roads included in Bharatmala Pariyojana comprising Economic Corridors, Inter Corridor, Feeder Routes, International Connectivity and Coastal Roads. 

This information was given by Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
