Update on HADR Operations in Gujarat/Rajasthan

A large scale Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise by Indian      Air Force involving Medium Helicopters (MLH) and Chetak Helicopters is still going on in the         Flood   affected areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The highlights of HADR operations carried out today by Indian Air Force are as follows:
           
           (a)        Twelve sorties have been undertaken from Deesa.

          (b)     Two Chetaks from Jamnagar are deployed in Mehsana and Ahmedabad.

            (c)        The IAF detachment at Mehsana was operationalised on 26 Jul 17 with three helicopters (Two Medium Lift helicopters & one Chetak).

          (d)     Communication nodes have been set up at Deesa and Mehsana.

            (e)        One Low Level Light Weight Radar (LLLWR) has been operationalised at Deesa             with effect from 1000 hrs today. This radar will be used to de-conflict the helicopter traffic          in the vicinity of Deesa.

(f)        A dedicated HADR Cell was established at Gandhinagar which is the HQ of the South             Western Air Command. Regular contact is being maintained with the State Emergency Op Centre (SEOC) and other stakeholders.  A meeting has been called by Governor of Gujarat at 1700 h at SEOC.

(g)            Heavy rain was reported in the morning at all location.  Weather improved marginally in the afternoon.
