Shri Rajnath Singh chairs meeting of Home Minister’s Advisory Committee for Chandigarh

The meeting of Home Minister Advisory Committee for Union Territory Chandigarh was held here today (July 27, 2017) under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh. The Union Territory was represented by Shri V. P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Chandigarh, Smt Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament and other Members. 

The members had suggested 46 agenda items relating to different fields of development of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The items that were discussed during the meeting included issues relating to land, building bylaws, traffic, parking and service matters. The status of grant of subsistence allowance to Home Guards of Chandigarh and extension of Court fee (Punjab Amendment Act, 2016) was informed in the meeting. The members also stressed upon increasing the revenue share of Municipal Corporation and to resolve the problem of solid waste management in Chandigarh. 

The Union Home Minister directed the officers to expedite the issues pending with MHA and also follow up the issues pending with other Ministries. He also advised the Chandigarh Administration to look into the issues which are of priority nature. Shri Rajnath Singh thanked the Members for the extremely fruitful and detailed deliberations. 

Other participants of the meeting included Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Minister of State (Home), Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, Union Home Secretary, Shri Rajiv Gauba, Officer on Special Duty (Home), Shri Hari Krishna Paliwal, Advisor and senior officers from Ministries of Home Affairs, Health & Family Welfare, Human Resource Development, Social Justice & Empowerment and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
