Ganga Action Plan

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation with officials of Government of Uttar Pradesh and others to discuss the issue of shifting of tanneries from Jajmau, Kanpur. A Task Force has been constituted under chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Environment, Uttar Pradesh. The first meeting of the Task Force was held on 06-07-2017.
At present total 155 projects costing Rs. 12423.63 crore have been sanctioned, out of which 39 projects have been completed.
Projects for cleaning Ganga are divided under three type of activities i.e. short term, medium term and long term activities. Efforts are made to complete short and medium term activities by the year 2020.
This information was given by Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Vijay Goel in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
