Urban Haats for Handicraft Artisans and Handloom Weavers

At present, 31 Urban Haats are operational and 5 Urban Haats are under progress in the country, to enable artisans and handloom weavers to sell their products directly.

Government intends to increase the number of Urban Haats & Mini Urban Haats. Proposals have been received for establishment of Urban Haats at Kardo village and Poma village, in Arunachal Pradesh, Tuli in Nagaland, Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and Amritsar in Punjab. Two proposals for Mini Urban Haats have also been received from Nagaland and Chhattisgarh.

The above information was given by the Minister of State, Textiles, Shri Ajay Tamta today, in a written reply to a Lok Sabha question.
