The roadmap for all the 35 States/UTs except one (Uttar Pradesh) has been jointly agreed between the Centre and the States and is under implementation. This was stated by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy and Mines in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
The Minister further stated that the State specific plans have taken care of the present and future power requirement with consideration for 24x7 Power for All. The Energy requirement for the years 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 for all the States is 1232.117 Billion Units (BU), 1346.696 BU and 1473.451 BU respectively.
The Minister further stated that the measures taken for providing power to unelectrified households by the States & UTs, inter-alia, include assessment of adequacy for energy and generation capacity and peak demand requirement, Transmission system (both Inter State & Intra State) and Distribution system. Infrastructure and financial requirement have also been assessed to implement the information required for meeting 24x7 Power for All needs. The road map to fulfill the same has also been drawn through various schemes like Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) for system strengthening & augmentation of distribution system along with feeder segregation and Integrated Power Development System (IPDS) for strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks, metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumers and other schemes of Central and State Governments, the Minister added.
