The Urban Development and Information
and Broadcasting Minister, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday discussed with the
Human Resources Development Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar the pending issues
of the setting up of Central University at Anantapur, Tribal University at
Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh and a Central Tribal University in Telangana,
which were part of the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Shri Naidu requested Shri Javadekar
to expedite the process and ensure that the proposals are taken to the Cabinet
meeting at the earliest.
After discussing the issue with
officials, Shri Javadekar informed Shri Naidu that the land offered at two
places by the Andhra Pradesh Government was inspected and approved by a central
team. Ed. CIL, which has been entrusted
with the task of preparing the Detailed Project Reports for the Central
University and Tribal University, is expected to submit the final DPRs by
September 19, 2016. He told Shri Naidu that both the proposals would be moved
to the Expenditure Finance Committee and subsequently placed before the Union Cabinet
at the earliest.
The Site Selection Committee of the
Ministry of Human Resources Development visiteddifferent sites offered by the Andhra
Pradesh Government and selected Janthaluru village, B K Samudram Mandal of
Anantapur district for the proposed Central University and finalised the site
at Relli village, Kothavalasa Mandal, Vizianagaram for the Tribal University.
He informed Shri Naidu that the HRD
Ministry also requested the Telangana State to offer two to three well located
sites measuring 500-600 acres for setting up a Central Tribal University. The
State Government said that it would send the proposals at the earliest.
