President Shri Pranab Mukherjee’s message on the Eve of Independence Day of Kiribati

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Kiribati on the eve of their Independence Day (July 12, 2016). 

In a message to His Excellency Taneti Mamau, the President of the Republic of Kiribati, the President has said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it is with great pleasure that I extend warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kiribati. 

India and Kiribati have traditionally enjoyed warm and cordial relations - based on respect, goodwill and mutual understanding. I am confident that relations between our two countries will continue to strengthen in the coming years to the mutual benefit of our peoples. India remains committed to support Kiribati and other Pacific Island Countries in their developmental needs. I firmly believe that in the near future, our joint developmental initiatives in the areas of renewable energy and Information Technology will help create a solid foundation for the further strengthening of this valued partnership. 

I take this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency my best wishes for your good health and well-being, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Kiribat”.
