Rabi Crops sowing Crosses 541 Lakh Hectare

As per preliminary reports received from the States, the total area sown under Rabi crops as on 01st  January, 2015 stands at 541.12 lakh hectares.
             Wheat has been sown/transplanted in 271.46 lakh hectares, pulses in 128.24 lakh hectares, coarse cereals in 55.19 lakh hectares. Area sown under oilseeds is 71.47 lakh hectares and Rice is 14.77 lakh hectares.      
 The area sown so far and that sown during last year this time is as follows:
