The Government has intended period of for non-loanee farmers form July 31, 2015 to September 15, 2015 under National Agricultural Insurance Scheme. This will benefit farmers of the states which had low rainfall or late rain and delayed planting. In the case of loanee farmers the period is up to September 30, 2015. . Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Orissa, and Gujarat State had requested to extend the period of crop insurance for non-loanee farmers.
Announcing the decision have today Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh said that the decision has been taken in the interest of farmers where delayed /low rainfall has been reported.
The Minister has urged the State Governments to well publicize the decision of extention of the period for non-loanne so that they can take advantage.
