The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today(07-08-2015) chaired a high-level meeting on various energy sectors.
The Prime Minister reviewed the progress towards targets in power and coal sectors. He specifically reviewed the progress made in rural electrification, and called for speeding up the process, so as to achieve 100 percent electrification, state-wise, progressively, in a well-defined time frame. The Prime Minister called for stern action against power theft.
The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to renewable energy, and called for accelerating the implementation of renewable energy projects.
Senior officials from the concerned Ministries, NITI Aayog and PMO were present at the meeting.
