Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore inaugurates symposium on
the occasion of Broadcasting Day
Col.
Rajyavardhan Rathore, MoS, I&B has said that the public service motto of
Prasar Bharati had stood out within the institutional framework of information
dissemination. The public service mandate Prasar Bharati had enabled it to live
up to the role & challenges of fair and balanced reporting. Col.
Rathore stated this while inaugurating the symposium on “Naye Bharat Ki Rachna Aur
Prasaaran Maadhyam” on the occasion of Indian Broadcasting Day organized by
Prasar Bharati here today.
Elaborating
further, the Minister said the government was committed towards strengthening
Prasar Bharati. In the changing media scenario and rapid technological
developments Prasar Bharati had a major responsibility to take news and
information to the remotest corners of the country. Government was committed to
expansion of FM Radio
through the Phase III auctions and to provide the better quality transmission. The
Minister said that Government was making efforts to replace shortwave and
Medium wave with FM broadcasts throughout the country.
Recalling
many distinguished individuals who made a mark through the medium of radio,
Col. Rathore underlined the uniqueness of the medium saying helps us stay
connected with the world without getting distracted. Radio has been producing
news that is neural, balanced and fair. Appreciating the quality of the news of
the Public Broadcaster Col. Rathore said that it was the best medium for news
as well as entertainment.
