Schemes for Women in the state of J & K

Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme: There are 141 ICDS Projects and 29599 AWCs operational in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, providing services under ICDS Scheme to 295039 children (6 months to 6 years) and 92021 Pregnant and Lactating Mother under Supplementary Nutrition Programme and 300126 children under Pre-school education. Under the restructured and strengthened ICDS, five tier monitoring Committees have been introduced. 

Swadhar Scheme: Three Homes are being run in Srinagar, Kupwara and Poonch for women in difficult circumstances. 

Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for empowerment of Adolescent Girls (SABLA) for empowering adolescent girls (11-18 years) through nutrition and health care and life skills education is in operation in Anantnag, Kupwara, Kathua, Jammu, Leh (Ladakh) districts of J & K. 

Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojna (IGMSY), a Conditional Maternity Benefit (CMB) for pregnant and lactating (P & L) women to improve their health & nutrition status is operational in Kathua and Anantnag districts of J & K. 

Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiated to address the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR), in age group of 0-6 years is in operation in Jammu, Pulwama, Kathua and Badgam districts of J & K. 

Rajiv Gandhi National Creche Scheme for Children of Working Mothers: Provides day care facilities to children (age group of 0-6 years) in 737 Creches operational in J & K. 

Working Women Hostel: Under the scheme in J & K one hostel each in the districts of Anantnag, Jammu, Leh and two hostels in Srinagar have been sanctioned. 

In the current financial year (2015-16), so far, Rs. 29.36 crore has been released only under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme in the first quarter and Rs. 6.80 crore has been released under Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) to J & K. 

This information was given by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi in reply to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha today.
