Heavy Rains Warning

The deep depression over southwest Rajasthan & adjoining Gujarat state moved north-northeastwards during the past 12 hours and lay centered over south Rajasthan about 180 km south-southwest of Bikaner (Rajasthan) at 0530 hours IST of today, the 29 July 2015. It would move slowly north-northeastwards and weaken into a depression during next 12 hours.

Due to this depression heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and isolated extremely heavy falls over Gujarat region, Daman& Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Saurashtra, Kutch is predicted for today and tomorrow.  Moderate rainfall is also expected to occur at most places in the region.  Heavy to very heavy is also predicted at a few places on 31 July 2015 over the same region. 

Similarly, the Indian Meteorological Department predicted that rainfall would occur at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over Rajasthan during next 72 hours and at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

Squally winds with speed reaching to 45-55 kmph along and off Gujarat & north Konkan coasts are expected during next 48 hours. Sea condition would be rough to very rough along and off Gujarat & north Konkan coasts during the same period. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along & off Gujarat & north Konkan coasts during the same period.

Another depression over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh & West Bengal moved south-eastwards, concentrated into a deep depression and lay centred over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh near lat. 21.0⁰ N and long. 91.0⁰ E, 160 km south-southwest of Chittagong (Bangladesh) at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 29 July 2015. The system would move nearly northwards and cross Bangladesh coast between longitude 90.5⁰E and 91.5⁰E around 30^th forenoon.

Because of this heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over the Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during the next 48 hours and at a few places during the subsequent 24 hours over the region.

Squally winds with speeds of 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph along and off West Bengal & north Odisha coasts are expected during the next 48 hours. Sea condition would be rough to very rough over North Bay of Bengal during the same period. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along & off West Bengal and north Odisha coasts during the same period.
