National Electric Mobility Mission 2020 to promote eco-friendly cars

The Government is promoting eco-friendly cars in the country i.e. CNG based vehicle, hybrid vehicle, electric vehicle etc. The Government has also made mandatory of 5% Ethanol blending in petrol. Further, a Scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles in India, under the National Electric Mobility Mission 2020 has formulated. The scheme envisages encouraging progressive induction of reliable, affordable and efficient electric and hybrid vehicles (xEV) in the country, thereby helping India to emerge as a leader in the (xEV) Two Wheeler and Four Wheeler market in the world by 2020. The Mission aims at providing a clean transportation system to the people that is not dependent on gasoline based fossil fuel. 

This information was given by Minister of State in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Shri G.M. Siddeshwara in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
