Under the newly introduced Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for “Upgradation of existing State Government/Central Government Medical Colleges to increase MBBS seats in the country”, proposals from the State of Odisha, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Karnataka have been received.
Under the new Centrally Sponsored Scheme for “Establishment of New Medical Colleges attached with District/Referral hospitals”, with fund sharing between the Central Government and State Government in the ratio of 90:10 for North East/special category States and 75:25 for other States with a total cost of Rs.189 crore per medical college, several district/referral hospitals have been identified.
