Cabinet Secretary Shri Ajit Seth reviews the preparedness of Central and State Agencies to deal with the cyclone, Nilofar; All the Central Agencies are kept in readiness

The Cabinet Secretary Shri Ajit Seth chaired the meeting of the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) today (28.10.2014) and closely reviewed the preparedness of central and state agencies to face any challenge arising out of the approaching cyclonic storm ‘Nilofar’ along the Gujarat coast. 

In a video conferencing with the Chief Secretary and other senior officials of the State, he took stock of all the steps taken by the State Government to deal with the cyclone. 

Today, at 1130 hrs, cyclonic storm ‘Nilofar’ lay centred at 1,110 km south-west of Naliya, Gujarat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has estimated rainfall at most places along coastal districts of Saurashtra and Kutch from night of October 31, 2014. IMD has suggested that fishermen out at sea along and off Gujarat coast should return to the coast. 

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is fully geared up for rescue operations and has alerted its three battalions. NDRF has prepositioned seven rescue and relief teams at different places in Gujarat and nine of its teams are on standby for deployment.
