Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture & Tourism Shri Shripad Yesso Naik has said that the Government proposes to introduce a new scheme on the “National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana” (HRIDAY) in the country for conserving and preserving the heritage characters of the heritage cities. 

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Naik said, to begin with, it is proposed to launch this programme in the cities such as Mathura, Amritsar, Gaya, Kanchipuram, Vellankani and Ajmer for which Rs.200 crore has been earmarked. This project will work through a partnership of Government, academic institutions and local community combining affordable technologies.
