Central Assistance for Development of Water Bodies

Central assistance was provided by the Ministry of Water Resources, River development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry to States/UTs for development of water bodies under two schemes namely Repair, Renovation & Restoration of Water Bodies (RRR) and Flood Management Programme (FMP) during the XII Plan. 

Under the scheme of RRR, a total of 3341 water bodies were taken up for restoration in 12 States, out of which 2033 water bodies have been completed till date. Under FMP, a total No. of 420 works were approved during XI Plan, out of which 252 works were completed. A sum of Rs. 78.41 crores has been released for the RRR scheme in the last two years; and for FMP, a sum of Rs. 572.85 crores was released during the same period for 97 new works. 

This was stated by Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
