Functioning of Airport Metro Express Line has
significantly improved since its takeover by the Delhi Metro Rail
Corporation (DMRC) from M/s. Delhi Airport Metro Express Limited in
July, 2013. This was informed by the Minister of Urban Development Shri
M.Venkaiah Naidu in a written reply to a question raised by Shri Sanjay
Dhotre in Lok Sabha today.
Shri Venkaiah Naidu said that average monthly ridership of the Airport Metro Line has increased by 30.40% since July, 2013 when DMRC took over the line. Operating loss has reduced from Rs.345.25 lakhs in July, 2013 to monthly average of Rs.82.09 lakhs during April-June, 2014. The Minister informed that fares of Airport Metro Express Line have been reduced by about 40% for various trips with effect from 24.7.2014.
Shri Naidu stated that Natural Conversation Zones like forests, water bodies and waste lands have declined in the National Capital Region. In a written reply to Shri C.N. Jayadevan, Shri Naidu informed that as per the analysis done in the year 2012 by National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) in conjunction with National Remote Sensing Centre, using satellite imageries, there has been a decline in Natural Conservation Zones vis-à-vis those contained in the Regional Plan-2021, notified in 2005. Shri Naidu informed that the said decline in respect of National Capital Territory of Delhi has been 15.43% while it has been 43.88% in case of Uttar Pradesh, 25.97% in case of Haryana and 11.18% in respect of Rajasthan.
The four participating states of National Capital Region have been sent notices under Section 29(2) of NCRPB Act, 1985, Shri Venkaiah Naidu informed.
People living in slum areas of Delhi have declined by 2,44,365 between 2001 and 2011. This was informed by Shri Naidu in a written reply in Lok Sabha today. As per the information furnished by the Minister, Delhi ranks ninth among 35 states and union territories with a slum population of 17,85,390 as per 2011 Census as against 20,29,755 in 2001.
632 shops in shopping complexes constructed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) remain unsold for a period ranging from three to twenty years. This was informed by Shri Venkaiah Naidu in a written reply to Shri B.Sriramulu in the Lok Sabha today. These included 298 in General Category (East Zone-111, South Zone-47, West Zone-140) which remained vacant for 15-20 years. Another 111 shops/stalls in General Category and 223 in Reserved Category are vacant since 2011-12.
Shri Venkaiah Naidu informed that henceforth, shops under General Category will be disposed off by DDA through e-auctioning to ensure transparency and wider public response.
