The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) aims to provide appropriate information regarding agriculture at local level and makes an important contribution by giving knowledge to farmers about advanced agriculture through organising various training programmes. This was stated by the Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Radha Mohan Singh while laying the foundation stone of KVK at district Ramgarh in Jharkhand today ()26.08.2014).
Greeting the people on this occasion the Minister said with the opening of this KVK the state of Jharkhand will have KVKs in all its 24 districts. Out of them 16 KVKs are working under Birsa Agriculture University, Ranchi, 3 under various institutes of ICAR and 5 KVKs under NGOs, he said.
Shri Singh expressed the hope that Ramgarh district, which is largely dependent on agriculture, will be provided important agricultural information by this KVK to all its 351 revenue villages. He called upon the KVK that it should work for rehabilitation of areas facing threat of soil erosion because of coalmines.
