Manipur to have new foodgrain godown of 5000MT

Prof. K.V.Thomas, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Inaugurated new granary of 5000 MT capacity in Manipur today. On this occasion Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Okram Ibobi Singh was also present. 

Presently there are five FCI depots are operational in the state with a capacity of 33,090MTs. With this FCI is effectively serving the needs of 4,06,593 PDS beneficiaries through annual induction of about 2.35 Lac MT of foodgrains to Manipur despite geographical and infrastructural bottlenecks. After the construction of seven new FCI godowns in the state storage capacity will increase to 37,500MTs and every revenue district in the state will have at least one FCI godown.
