Following are the pointers of I&B Minister Shri Manish Tewari's speech at Closing Ceremony of IFFI-2013, Goa.
1. CM Goa, Secy I and B, Michelle Yeo, Ladies and Gentleman...
2. As curtains fall- 44th IFFI and Centenary of Indian Cinema we stand on threshold of new frontier of Indian and Global Cinema.
3. A Frontier that is full of promise, hope and optimism about the thresholds of creativity, innovation and spontaneity that cinema seeks to surmount.
4. What we have celebrated over the last 10 days is the freedom of the Human Spirit, Liberated from the mores of conventional ism, imbued with the ability to dare and above all the power of a "NEW IDEA.
5. What we have assailed is an attempt to strangle liberal spaces, impose thought control and medieval mindsets.
6. This endeavour would be further enriched by initiatives taken:
A. Single window foreign film makers to shoot in India
B. Overhaul of archaic Cinematography Act
C. Increase in screen numbers
D. An attempt to deal with fiscal issues bedevil ling the industry.
7. While celebrating diversity we have also recognised excellence carrying forth 'Tradition of old Awards' and having instituted some new ones to mark the completion of the centenary
8. However freedoms we have celebrated should not be taken for granted. The Dark forces of Right and national subversion wait in the wings. For creative communities let me REITERATE the caution Eternal Vigil is the Price of Liberty.
