The Principal Secretary to PM held a meeting to discuss the report of the Inter-Ministerial Group set up to finalise the development of the Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (ADKIC).
2. In the meeting, it was decided to go to the Cabinet to get the necessary approvals for the Amritsar-Delhi–Kolkata Industrial Corridor.
3. The time-lines that were decided are:
• Obtain in-principle approval of Union Cabinet on approach to ADKIC including proposal for formation of Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (ADKICDC) by 30.10.2013.
• Set up dedicated cell in State Governments by 30.10.2013.
• State Governments to submit proposals for in-principle approval to GoI by 31.12.2013.
• Formation of Cluster SPV by 28.2.2014.
• Set up ADKICDC by 31.12.2013.
• Commitment of Funds for the project.
4. One of the main features of ADKIC is that the Industrial Manufacturing Clusters that will come up will have all the benefits of NMZs but with a minimum land area of only 10 sq. kms and not 50 sq. kms as in NMZs.
5. It was also decided that State Governments would be invited to join in the equity of ADKIC, so that this can be a jointendeavour of GoI and the State Governments. It was also decided that a CEO would be appointed at the earliest to accelerate the development of ADKIC.
