Air India Facilitates Stranded Passengers

     Air India has, so far, facilitated more than 350 passengers for Chennai and 75 passengers for Orissa who were stranded at different locations in Uttarakhand. The airline has earlier announced a 50% discount on basic fare ex-Dehradun on all published fares across all RBDs issued by its office in Dehradun for the benefit of passengers. 

On the recommendation of respective Resident Commissioners of various states, Safdarjung booking office of Air India has been issuing tickets for the stranded passengers. On flights / sector where seats are not available in lower RBDs, booking office is issuing confirmed tickets with affordable price. As a back-up support, Dehradun station has been strengthened with additional manpower to facilitate heavy rush and dedicated staff at reservation level to handle express confirmations in case of requirement. 

At Safdarjung Airport booking office, timing has been extended beyond 1900 hrs till 2200 hrs to cater for any last minute rush. The Station Manager, Dehradun is available from 6.00 hrs till 19.00 hrs at the airport for the facilitation of stranded passengers and bookings at Dehradun station are being coordinated with the Reservation Manager, Delhi for a smooth facilitation over Delhi for onward journey. At the same time, convenient connections are available for Dehradun-Delhi flights to destinations in all major states like Maharashtra, Orissa, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. 

All Resident Commissioners have been informed about the initiatives taken by Air India and for any assistance / support to arrange for air transportation to their respective states, special flights etc. A web banner with details about the facilitation system provided by Air India has also been uploaded. Air India is in regular contact with Resident Commissioners of West Bengal, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh to provide the status of seat/confirmation being provided to the state passengers.
