Statement of I&B Ministry

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in a statement has said “the unfortunate death of Sh. Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan’s custody has hurt the sentiments of all Indians. The country, in this hour of grief, stands by the family of the victim.”

In view of the anguish felt by the entire nation on this tragic and painful outrage, the Minister for Information & Broadcasting has decided to cancel the dinner scheduled to be held today for the National Film Award Winners as a mark of respect to the departed soul.   Inconvenience caused to the invitees is deeply regretted.
